If you’re heading the Smoky Mountains for some wintertime fun, you’re going to want to add Ober Mountain to the top of the list of things to do! Tennessee’s only ski resort sits just above the downtown Gatlinburg. The resort can easily be accessed by hopping on the Aerial Tramway from the main strip of the city or by taking a drive up to the top.

Here are a few of the reasons that you’ll want to visit Ober during your winter getaway to the mountains!

Skiing, Snowboarding and Tubing

If you’re looking to spend some time on the slopes, you’ll want to head up to Ober for a little snow fun! Regardless of if you’re a beginner or if your second home is on fresh powder, you are sure to have a great time! If you’re not quite ready for skiing or snowboarding, take a few tubing trips down the hill! If you’re concerned about not being prepared, no worries, Ober offers everything from equipment and rental gear to lessons and season passes if you decide after the first time that you just can’t get enough!

Terrain Park

The Terrain Park at Ober is the perfect area for working on your freestyle tricks and skills! You’ll also find events like the 4th Annual “King of the Mountain”, Sunday Session: Slopestyle, Ladies Night in the Park, Sunday Session: Air and Style, and others to participate in! Cubbies Snow Zone

Guests traveling with children, and especially those coming from an area where they never get a chance to see snow, will absolutely love the Cubbies Snow Zone! This section of the park allows children to truly enjoy the fun and joy of playing in the snow. So bundle up, pack the camera and head up for some snowtime fun!

Ice Skating

Ice skating has been a wintertime tradition for centuries and while playing at Ober, you can get your time in on the ice along with all of the other winter fun activities that are waiting! If you’re not sure about staying upright and steady on the ice, try out the ice bumper cars!

The View

Regardless of if you choose to drive to Ober Mountain or if you take a ride on the Aerial Tramway, you’ll find that the views of the Smoky Mountains are beautiful during every season! However in the winter when a good layer of snow is on the ground, or even just the mountain tops are covered, the views become absolutely stunning!
